It's a Boy!

Hello all! My son told me his teacher and his wife are having a baby. My son asked me to make his teacher a card so, that's what I set out to do.

In true Sonja fashion, what was supposed to be a simple card turned into a two day project. I didn't have any baby boy paper on hand. After brainstorming and deciding I didn't want to go chase around town to find some, I decided to do print and cut with backgrounds from the Silhouette Design Store, Silhouette Studio, Business Edition, and both my Silhouette Cameo 3 and 4 machines

It's been awhile since I've done an explosion box. I remembered I had a crib explosion box file from Lori Whitlock that would work perfectly instead of a plain card.

I decided to pull out my Xyron Glaminator to add some foil to the printed off sentiments.
The Xyron Glaminator works with a laser printer and Xyron Transfer Foils.
Once your image or sentiment is printed off, simply run it through the Xyron Glaminator with your choice of Xyron Transfer Foils.
Here, I used the red and silver Xyron Transfer Foils. Funny enough, I decided to not use the larger sentiments shown here, but I can use them for a different project down the line.
Next I decided to focus on the outside main feature, baby shoes
Since I was dealing with such a tiny element, I decided to pull out my Xyron Mini Hot Glue Gun Pen and Xyron Mini Hot Glue Sticks to make sure the bows stayed in place.
These shoes are downsized about 75% of the original file.
Next I grabbed my go to adhesive machine, the Xyron Creative Station, to adhere all of my pieces to the inside and outside of my box.
Now it's my favorite part of paper crafting, adding the little details. With the assistance of my Xyron Mini Hot Glue Gun Pen and Xyron Mini Hot Glue Sticks, I was able to adhere my flowers from I am Roses in place.
I like that with the Xyron Mini Hot Glue Gun Pen, I can add just a bit or more hot glue to my project without worrying about overflow.
Next I decided to make an insert card for my message. I used Lawn Fawn's Push Here stamps with the Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink to add 'pull here' to my tab.
Next I added a diaper pin brad from Recollections to bring attention to the pull tab.
And finally, I decided I needed to make a tag for the bag that holds the explosion box.
Final Projects:

I used Lori Whitlock's Baby Boy Dingbats Font to match her already themed crib, but also add in some cute animals. To match the colors of the rest of the box, I simply released the compound of the animal and selected the pattern I wanted to fill the space. Then I used the print and cut feature in Silhouette Studio.
