Golden Valentine's Day
Hello all! I'm not one who is really huge on Valentine's Day, however the kids' wanted to do something nice for the secretaries at school. I've had a few Dreaming Tree files that I wanted to make so why not use them on this project?!
I also knew I wanted to do this as an all gold project. It's been a few years since I've done this and I used a different gold paper. It was a more delicate paper so I had to pull in my Xyron Creative Station®, Teresa Collins Mega Runner, and the Xyron X150 Sticker Maker to adhere my elements together.
To start with, I cut all of my elements out for Dreaming Tree's Sweetheart Camellia Bouquet, (2) XXO Card (Free), and the Loveland Royal Carriage with the Silhouette Cameo 4.
Next I ran all my accent pieces through the Xyron Creative Station®.
I prefer to use my Teresa Collins Mega Runner when working with thin paper like this to prevent warping from glue.
The Xyron X150 Sticker Maker is one of my oldest crafting tools. I've had it for about 19 years or so. It is super convenient to get adhesive onto the back of small cuts that I either forgot to run through the Creative Station or wanted to add to my project without wasting a lot of adhesive with one of the larger machines!
I used my quilling tools to shape the petals on my flowers.
A gold brad to the middle allowed me to keep my petals together while being able to move them into place.
I really wanted to stick with the gold theme so I wrapped gold ribbon around toothpicks for the accent hearts in the Sweetheart Camellia Bouquet.
Onto the Loveland Royal Carriage
I changed holes on my wheels to go through all of the layers on this file.
I did this because I wanted to place the brads through all the layers and then add a cover to the back for two reasons. For one I don't like to see the back of the hardware when I create a project and for two when the wheels are places on the carriage, I wanted the visible parts of the wheels under the carriage to be matching gold.
The final step before assembling my whole project was grabbing my Sizzix Big Shot and embossing hearts onto some elements.
Final Projects:
The little cherub is there, just didn't photograph well. Gold is really hard to photograph well!
