DCWV Petal Paper

Hello all! My most recent project has been one that I enjoyed making without a purpose other than trying out DCWV's newest Petal Paper. All I knew when I started this project was that I wanted to make calla lilies. I remember way back years ago in high school, a friend had told me an interesting story about how they had received a calla lily plant upon her grandmother's passing. The plant did not flower another flower until surprisingly when her grandfather passed. And if I remember correctly, the plant only ever had two white flowers. So, that was my inspiration to start this project.
For this project I focused on the pink, light pink, and peach set.
Note, crepe paper cuts best with a rotary blade.
If you have not used the rotary blade with the Silhouette Cameo 4 yet, when you get it, you will need to twist the end cap upwards to reveal the blade before inserting it into the machine.
Once the blade cap is twisted into place, you can see the blade. You will not have to do this each time, they do this for safety during the shipping and buying process.
Once I got my petals cut out for my first set of calla lilies, I grabbed my Craftwell eBrush to float some color on those petals.
Even though I cut on my Silhouette mat, I also keep older mats around to use with my eBrush so I am not getting my newer mats dirty.
The great thing about using an airbrush is that there is really no wrong way to do it.
Both sides are detailed with the outside having a darker green. After doing this, I was able to eliminate some pieces to this flower.
Taking the spadix of the flower, I wrapped it around a wooden dowel that I wrapped with floral tape.
Next I took my colored spathe and wrapped it around the spadix to give me a calla lily.
Then I started on some orchids

The final flower I decided to add were roses. I could not find a good file that I could get to look realistic in this so I made my own petal file in Silhouette Studio using a circle and edit points.
Similar to the calla lily, I started from the inside and worked my way out. Working with crepe paper and my Netlab quilling set allowed me to really bend and stretch the petals into a more realistic looking flower.
This was my original design and I just couldn't get behind it. Something was off about it.
So I got a different fish bowl type vase out and started over.
I used AC Sticky Thumb sticky dots to adhere my orchids to the glass.

      1. Thank you Beth! I really do love the eBrush, but I'm afraid it's on its way out. It stopped working halfway through the orchids, but started up again. Fingers crossed I can squeeze more usage out of it while a company comes up with a new concept or something for us paper crafters! :)
