Winter Paintings
It's beginning to look a lot like WINTER in these parts of the Inland Northwest. I am sad to see fall go, but I enjoy the beauty of winter as well. This week, Derwent Academy and Xyron have united to display the wonderful paint supplies from Derwent Academy.
My first painting kept me on edge, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not so I ended up doing two paintings and ultimately decided to use both for this post.
For the first painting I wanted it to be a blue night winter scene.
I didn't really have a goal in mind other than trees, a blue sky, and perhaps a river.
I had to hold it up to see where I was at and what I wanted to change or add.
Then I moved onto the next painting.
Again I wanted a night scene. After drying the sky, I added some stars. Stars can be done several ways, but I prefer to water down some white Derwent Academy Acrylic Paints and flick it on with a fan brush.
Next I added in some moon light to the little pond.
Once my paintings were done and drying, I decided to make some black frames for them. I used my Teresa Collins Mega Runner by Xyron® to assemble the frame so my cardstock would not warp with glue.
But the black frames looked to plain so I designed two flourishes in Silhouette Studios.
Next I ran the snowflakes and deer through my Xyron Creative Station®. I ran the snowflakes through on each side so that I could add glitter to the right side up and adhere to the bottom piece flourish as well.
The glitter stuck like a charm!
Finally I assembled and adhered the flourishes to the frames to complete the project.
