Where the Wild Things Are...

One of the art mediums I love to work with is vinyl. I don't get to use it often, mainly because I don't advertise that I use it. However, I have a large stash of vinyl hidden away and any chance I get to use it, I roll it out.

For this shadowbox, I made it for our first nephew that was born in March. My brother and sister-in-law chose a 'Where the Wild Things Are' theme for his nursery, as well as his coming home outfit from the hospital.

It's been on my list of things to do to get this shadowbox done. I couldn't find a shadowbox that wasn't just white or black. If I did find it in a different medium, it was either way too big or small. I happened to be at Michaels and found this shadowbox that has a faux wood around it. Perfect for this theme!

I went to Joann's next to grab some DCWV Project Paper to line the background of the shadowbox so it wasn't just black.

After they announced their theme, I just happened to come across the 'Wild One' set of monsters/little king by Lettering Delights in the Silhouette Design Store.
Honestly, I think my most favorite part about vinyl is weeding. I actually find it therapeutic. I know, I'm weird!
Next I found a quote that aptly had the name Max in it (guess the baby's name). I also found the font commonly used for this series. I welded the quote, monsters, and king together at 13" long to fit the front bottom of the shadowbox.
Slow goes it when applying this to make sure it is level, as well as no bubbles.
Next I added the yellow detailing for now.
I mounted the photos and other special details on brown and gold cardstock using my Xyron Mega Runner® .
The final step (not photographed was to add the yellow lettering so it popped better than just plain black).
