Christmas for Jacob

Christmas, for me at least, is about giving. I prefer to watch my children open their gifts or get excited about picking something out for someone else. So when I came across this story of little Jacob, I had to do something. See Jacob is a sick little guy. His family has put out a request for Christmas cards for him early as he may not have that much time left. To read his story, just click here. I will post his address below if you would like to send him a card as well.

To start with, I noticed the photo of Jacob has three penguins in it so I assume he likes penguins. I took a Lori Whitlock card from the Silhouette Store and decided to make a Christmas Train card.

Since I saw the penguins in Jacob's arms, I decided that I wanted to add to the train on this card. But no matter how I played around with the animals and Santa, it just wasn't going to work with this train. The elements were all too small. So I grabbed the Santa Express Train set by Stinkin Cute Paper Piecings from the Silhouette store and switched the train out.

I added the last cart by taking this and that from the Santa Express set, cause every Christmas has to have a tree!

Once I had my final plans laid out, I got to cutting and detailing. Great news, my Craftwell eBrush is up and in working order finally!!! Props to the husband for surprising me with the new trigger piece to get it working again!
The eBrush is great for adding soft highlights or heavy detail.
For the snow hills, I wanted to give it a gray detail to match the snowflake ridden sky on this card.
Next I grabbed my polka dot Darice embossing folder and ran each piece through the Sizzix Big Shot.
I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome of the snow filled hills and matching sky. Once this was done, the card rolled out into what it became.
Finalized card:
