Joy

Hello all! I received a card order from a repeat customer. She debated for weeks on what she wants. Cardinals, maybe a wreath, how about a cardinal in a tree, no maybe poinsettia's, but most definitely snow. So I suggested combining all of her ideas into one card.

She loved the idea and gave me full range. This is my favorite type of card to make for a customer (free range) as it allows my creativity to roam.

After brainstorming the idea for this card, I felt that the starred gold foil I have here from Rinea. I also had some left over red foil from a recent project (will be displayed on the 21st).

So lets begin. First I decided to do a shadowbox card. Knowing that the client wanted the cardinal in a tree, but snow, trees, a wreath, and poinsettia's,  a shadowbox card allowed me to combine all this into layers for more cohesiveness.

After creating the back layer of snowy skies, snow hills, and snow brushed trees,
I began on the male cardinal.

Originally he was the only bird I was going to make, but he looked so lonely I needed to add a female. I perched the female on the white snow brushed fence for depth between the two birds.

It is hard to see, but on the female I used my eBrush to tip the head and tail with red on the plain gold foil.
Next the poinsettia's on green sprigs of pine and holly.

To break up the green and add a bit more texture I popped in some bling from Jolee's Boutique (found at Joanns).

Materials Used:

Miss Kate Cuttables ~ Poinsettia Floral
