Grandparents Day with Park Lane Sunshine and Rain

Hello all! Grandparents Day is Sunday September 8th. I actually got around to doing something for it this year too!

While looking around on Pinterest for ideas, I decided I wanted to do something more than my children's foot and hand prints on a surface. Looking through my 3D files in my library from the Silhouette Store, I decided to run with an idea with a camera. I got the first one cut, then cut out three more. While assembling the third one, I decided I just didn't like them. I then remembered that SVG Cuts recently came out with the a new set, Instant Memories.

After 2 days of working and some debating, I decided I really couldn't live with the first camera set so I had to change it up. I ran down to Joann Fabric and Craft Store to grab another Park Lane Sunshine and Rain stack because I mean, I'm a paper addict and I just couldn't imagine doing this set with any other paper!
On the left we have the original camera that I did and on the right we have the second set (SVG Cuts file). At the end of this post, you will see why I was picky about what I was doing! I couldn't live with that slit on the left side one plus it was big and boxy.
I did enlarge the SVG Cuts file so the final camera project sits at 5" high by 8" wide.
Using my Xyron Creative Station Lite®, I ran all of my accent pieces through for some good adhesive coverage.
Once I finished the peach one and found that I liked it so much better, I cut three more out and assembled them.
For the frame and backing of the inside, I used the Xyron Creative Station® as well as the Xyron Mega Runner®.
Final Projects:

There is clear acetate over each lense.

Note: I did add a few things to my cameras like the strap and bottom edging.

I use a Canon so I had to do a similar top to my dials options. To do this, I just used the cardstock that comes in this stack with a print and cut option with my Silhouette Cameo 3.
 And for the inside...
The original file has this so the top of the box comes off to reveal the inside. I however wanted to make mine a slide frame for a photo we took just for the grandparents. So note if you buy this file to do this, you will have to modify it.
Flip around and there's a little message for each set of grandparents that I printed on sticker paper.

  6. Sonya This is fascinating me. I just watched Mary's video on assembly.I have a question. Did you assemble the top and bottom completely and then cut that side off to add the slide?

    1. I had to modify the body, lids, and structural cover pieces BEFORE I cut it. It was fairly easy for this camera file. Really the hardest part of the entire project was getting the locking mechanism I designed inside the box to work correctly so that the box stops before it's pulled completely out.
