Scrapping for Less March Challenge

As you are probably well aware, I love to do card challenges. Keeps me young or old depending on the complexity!

I decided to do the Scrapping for Less March challenge because when I saw it, I thought a shaker card in a bee theme would be perfect for this month.

Part of why I like doing these challenges is because it is for no team so I have creative freedom and I get to use my toys. I am all about the usage of my toys!

Grab a seat, a cup of coffee, and let's get started. This one is a bit long!

Step 1: Design
I designed my card in Silhouette Studio with the Designers Edition.

Step 2: Adhere
After cutting out the base and two top plates I grabbed my Xyron Creative Station®.

 I ran each layer through quickly.

Step 3: Double sided adhesive
I wanted one of them to be double sided stick because I needed it to stick to the base of the card, as well as the clear plastic for the back of the shaker portion.

 To make a double sided stick, I ran the first layer through

 Take off the shiny top

Flip the cut upside down (note I left the white base on the sticky part when running it through my machine for the second time) and run it through the machine

 Voila double sided stick for my card

Step 4: Adhere base clear vellum
I prefer to use a good sticky adhesive vs glue when using the clear vellum.

Step 5: Middle layers
Next I cut out middle layers to build up the base for the shaker. I decided to grab my Teresa Collins Mega Runner by Xyron® for the middle layers to save on running tape with my Creative Stations. Also, I am using the Teresa Collins ¼” Mega Runner refill in this gun so it is thin like I need it.

Step 6: Build layers
After I got all of the middle layers adhered to each other, I ran it through the Xyron Creative Station®.

Step 7: Fill shaker portion
Next, I grabbed one of my embellishment boxes to see what I should put in the shaker portion.

I went with crystal beads and hearts

Step 8: Complete shaker portion
Attach the top clear vellum layer and top layer and the shaker portion is complete.

Step 9: Details
After cutting out all of the tiny little details, I grabbed my Syron 1.5" Sticker Maker and ran them through.

I clipped the solid color wings off of each bee before running it through the sticker maker. I then cut the wings out in vellum and sandwiched the wings between each layer of the bee.

Step 10: Make it pop
Next I wanted to make the top honeycomb and sentiment pop by using a sheet of foam.

I repeated the step 3 above, just with my Xyron Creative Station Lite®  as these were medium sized pieces.

 Step 11: Finish Assembly

 Step 12: Flowers, bees need flowers

 Using my McGill flower rollers, I was able to shape the petals

 Finished Project: 

 See through the little windows!
